Here is a song from Weird Al to make fun of the $220,000 music pirate

I am all for Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails doing what they are doing. I don’t agree with stealing music (movies and TV shows are o.k.). Stop file sharing your mp3’s or you will end like Jammie Thomas the 30 year-old mother that owes the RIAA $220,000. Here is a Weird Al video to knock Jammie and the RIAA.
Note: If you live in Japan no worries. Just rent the latest CD’s for a 1,000 yen or so and rip ‘em. Legal in Japan. Just don’t share them. I guess it is similar to those in the U.S. buying on iTunes with no DRM. Buy, but don’t share.

Change of pace – Israel Kamakawiwio’ole “IZ”

After reading lots of news stories about our messed up world, I needed a change of pace. Here is a video of the greatest Hawaiian singer (in my opinion). A giant guy with a soothing voice. Israel Kamakawiwio’ole was better known by the world as IZ. Unfortunately he passed away at the age of 38 back in 1997, but he still has a lot of big fans in the Hawaiian music genre. I fell in love with his music when I first came to Japan in 2002 and there was a giant poster of IZ hanging on the wall at my favorite restaurant/bar in Japan…Stove’s. Read more about the history of IZ on wikipedia and relax and enjoy the music below.Website with additional info about IZ and his music from his label.

I read in the newspaper today that Blue Man Group will be preforming in Tokyo during December 2007 – January 2008. They will preform in a new 900 seat theatre down the road from Roppongi Hills in Tokyo. The new theatre is temporarily being called Blue Man Theatre in their honor.
If you don’t know who they are, well watch the video.
Here is the original article that was in today’s Japan Times.
